Rally for Israel at The University of Florida, Gainsville - Nov. 23, 2003

The second pro-Israel Rally at University of Florida took place on November 23rd, 2003, as part of Israel Awareness week. More than 500 Israel supporters from across the state, including the University of Central Florida, took part in the event. Speakers included Miki Arbel, Consul General of Israel to Florida & Puerto Rico; Peter Deutsch from the US government; and speakers from student organizations. They called for unity, student activism and peace in Israel. Israel is the only democracy in the Middle East and the region's only long-term, consistent ally of the US.  The rally also included tables with information, a fundraising for Israel's medical services, as well as an exhibition of Israeli cities, dancing, and ethnic food.  The week's events were sponsored by 'Gators for Israel', the Jewish Student Union, 'Hillel' at UF, and UF Student Government.
