What is the Florida-Israel Institute?
The Florida-Israel Institute was created in 1988 by the Florida legislature.
The Institute is co-sponsored by
Broward Community College and Florida Atlantic University
The primary mission of the Florida-Israel Institute is to initiate and facilitate in the development of stronger direct research, economic, cultural, educational, and social ties between Florida and Israel. We do this through sponsoring or co-sponsoring cooperative academic and commerce activities such as conferences and symposia and bilateral commerce forums, student and faculty exchange, cultural exchange, and the enhancement of language training skills between the post secondary institutions in Florida and Israel.
Florida-Israel Institute is
unique. We are a public organization, located at a University, whose sole purpose is to promote the Florida-Israel connection. We also administer a scholarship program for Israeli college students who study in one of the Florida public higher-education institutes.
We are not part of the Jewish Federation and we are not a fundraising organization although we do partner with other organizations for specific projects.Over the past 17 years, we have created or helped with many projects (click on '
